This castable refractory cement is great for times when you need to repair damaged firebricks or fire-backs. The 12 1/2 pound bucket is a perfect size for homeowners or installers alike. If you need a special shape or size brick, you can use a mold/form. Doing this can create those hard to find brick shapes to finally bring an older wood stove back to life. Versatile and strong are just some other advantages. If cured, it will become hard as brick and will withstand temperatures up to 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use this cement for outdoor applications like fire pits or ovens as well, and if you don't like the color you can paint it when it's cured. An essential addition to any home, garage, or camp.

24 hour cure

I would like to use the cement to make decorative fire bricks with a mold for use in my fire pit. Would this product be suitable and what type of mold would you suggest? I was thinking of using latex or silicone molds. Thank you.

This is the perfect product for you!

We would recommend using the silicone based mold.

What is the total volume this can cover? The description says a 12 square foot area, but of what height? 12'x12'x1"? I would like to know this to estimate the number of 9"x4.5"x2.5" bricks I could make. Thank you, Dan

The castable firebrick covers a space of 12" x 12" x 1-1/4"

I have a broken rear refractory panel in my wood burning fireplace insert in my living room. It measures 17.5" tall x 20.5" wide x 1" thick... If I make a mold, will this product work as a replacement refractory panel? If so, will one 12lb bucket pour a 1" thick 20.5"x17.5" panel? If not, how many buckets will I need?

Good Morning,

We would not recommend using the castable firebrick to create a panel it more so to create single bricks from a mold. We do have something called Skamolex which is a replacement panel for inside ones fireplace.
