Grills

A barbecue grill is a device used for cooking food over an open flame, often outdoors. Grills come in various sizes and styles, including charcoal grills, gas grills, electric grills, and wood-fired grills. The heat source can be adjusted for temperature control, and the food is placed on a grate or griddle over the flame. Barbecue grills are commonly used for cooking meats, vegetables, and other foods, and they’re often used for social gatherings.

When you want to entertain guests during warm months, grills expand the capability of your kitchen. Even during colder months, grills give you the specific style of cooking you need for certain recipes, as opposed to your indoor oven. At CJ’s Hearth And Home, we carry a variety of grills: freestanding grills, grill island components, built-in grills, and kamado grills.

Freestanding Grills

Freestanding barbecue grills are standalone grilling devices that are not built into an outdoor kitchen or other structure. They typically have their own base or legs and can be moved around on wheels, as desired. Freestanding grills are available in various types including charcoal, gas, electric, and wood-fired grills. They often have multiple burners, side shelves, and storage areas for fuel and utensils.

Some models of freestanding grills have features such as built-in thermometers, side burners, rotisserie spit roasters, and more. Portable grills are a popular choice for outdoor cooking and entertaining, also known as barbecue. Freestanding grills are a go-to choice because of their mobility and versatility for grilling in different locations throughout your deck or backyard.

Grill Island Components

Grill islands are outdoor kitchens that are built around a freestanding barbecue grill. They typically consist of a base unit, countertops, storage areas, and sometimes additional features such as a sink, refrigerator, side burners, control panels, and garbage drawers. Another great grill island component is a warming drawer, which keeps your food warm after cooking before you’re ready to eat it. There are also ice chests, perfect for storing cold beverages on a hot day.

Grill islands are often made of materials like stone, concrete, or stainless steel and are designed to blend in with the surrounding outdoor environment. These structures provide a centralized location for outdoor cooking and entertaining, offering both convenience and functionality for your gathering space. Grill islands can range in size and complexity, from a simple structure with a single grill to large, multi-feature outdoor kitchens.

Built-In Grills

Built-in grills are grilling devices that are integrated into a permanent outdoor kitchen structure. They are often built into a countertop or island and are typically made of materials like stainless steel or stone to match the surrounding environment.

Built-in grills typically offer more stability and permanence than freestanding grills and can be equipped with various features such as multiple burners, side burners, rotisserie spit roasters, and more. These grills are designed to be used as a central location for outdoor cooking and entertaining and are often protected from the elements by a covering or hood.

Kamado Grills

Kamado grills are a unique type of grill characterized by their round, egg-shaped design. They’re known for their fuel efficiency and high cooking power. They are made from materials like ceramic or cast iron and have a thick, insulating wall that helps to retain heat and smoke, creating a unique flavor for the food being cooked.

Kamado grills can be used for a variety of cooking methods including grilling, smoking, roasting, and baking. They are also known for their versatility and efficiency, as they can reach high temperatures quickly and maintain a consistent temperature throughout the cooking process. Kamado grills typically have a removable ash pan, adjustable air vents, and a large cooking surface that can accommodate a variety of foods.
